Day Two of My New Orleans Getaway| New Orleans Natural Hair Expo

I wore this striped pineapple dress from Eloquii and I received so many compliments. Don’t forget to check out the Shop My Style Tab to see similar pieces…

Nothing in this world keeps me laughing like a good natural hair meme. I’m telling you the struggle is so real when it comes to my natural hair journey. I have been natural for seven years and when I started this journey I was so excited. I was a major product junkie and I spent several hours watching YT videos on how to achieve the perfect twist out. I big chopped in 2010 around the same time I started my fitness journey and washing my hair was a breeze when it was approximately 2 inches long.

Push the clock forward a little bit and now it’s 2017 and those easy breezy wash days are a thing of the past and protective styles are how I get my whole life, lol. So now with all of that being said day two of my New Orleans getaway was everything I needed and more.

It was all about the “4th Annual New Orleans Natural Hair Expo” presented by “The Mane Choice”. The New Orleans Natural Hair Expo is one of the greatest hair experiences ever being that it is during the Essence Festival and the NONHE features workshops, product demonstrations, blogger panels, vendor suites, and so much more. The goal of NONHE is to offer a fun and sophisticated social environment that celebrates and promotes the natural hair community and culture.

Natural is the norm, relaxer sales are declining, and we as black women are embracing and growing comfortable with our natural hair texture.

I was inspired at the NONHE and I ran into so many of the brands i love, YT favorites, and mingled with new bloggers.

@roscospears, part-owner of the lip bar, a lipstick line out of Detroit, Michigan that believes that cosmetics should not be filled with harsh chemicals and limited colors. I’m wearing “playmate” a pretty fuschia, the pigment is amazing.

@cheneselewis hosted the NONHE and was fabulous as always and @mariapaulina is one of my favorite African fashion shops, her line is tailor-made for the modern curvy woman

Blogger Panel featuring some of my favorite Youtubers @brosiaa @heycurlie and @actually_ashly Moderated by @cheneselewis

Have you ever tried Camille Rose Naturals? You are in for a treat if you have not these products are must haves!

I received a lot of goodies that I can not wait to try on my hair.

It was kinda impossible to picture t-shirts, dresses, and everything else! LOL, but I am excited to finally try Design Essentials. I have heard great things about this brand.

I had an amazing time celebrating curls and meeting new curl friends.

If you want to see more pictures search the #NONHE hashtag. If you are a natural hair enthusiast, beautician, barber, or anyone with a love for kinks and culture.. You should be there in 2018, maybe I will see you!
