You can never be too big to run. That is one of the biggest fables I have ever heard! And I’m sure that you have heard the lies too! You should start off slow or just walk until you drop a few lbs! Running may be too much on your heart and you may pass out! Don’t believe the hype, plus size runners are here to stay! After reading this you will be inspired to run no matter your size. If you want to know the best free apps for new plus size runners keep reading.
Map My Run
I’m a heavily anxious person and running eases my anxiety. The bliss of getting away from it all reduces my stress levels and help rejuvenate my mind. MapMyRun helps you find trails and routes, which is incredible for beginners. It also shows real-time stats, such as steps per minute, heart rate, calories, and more.
Coach To 5K
If this app and I had a relationship status on FB it would say “married”, simply because this is the app that pushed me to run my first 5K. C25K (short for Coach To 5K) has been around for a good minute and it’s one of the most popular 5k running programs. As a new plus size runner, this program introduced me to interval training and it laid out exactly what to do every day for 6-12 weeks.
Nike + Run Club
Nike + Run Club is just as cool as the brand’s plus size activewear line that I’m wearing in the photos. The free running app gives you motivational quotes, challenges, and meditation while running! The way my anxiety set up this makes meditating so easy.
Not to mention, Nike is behind plus-size runners and recognizes that women are stronger. With this cultural shift, Nike is celebrating diversity in body shape and ethnicity!
The Nike activewear set I’m wearing is from Macy’s! I’m wearing the Nike Plus Size Futura Logo T-shirt, Nike Plus Size High-Waist Leg-A-See Leggings, and the Nike Plus Size Sportswear Windrunner jacket.
You can find the latest Nike Plus selection at Macy’s.
I hope you find these apps really helpful and be inspired to run more.
