Darkness falls over our minds sometimes leading us into depression when it comes to body image and self esteem. I can remember times looking into the mirror scrutinizing my body over and over. It was pretty much a cycle that I could not escape.
Everyone struggles with negative thinking; it’s a very common thing especially among women and children today. Suicide rates are tripling, and with excessive photos of thinner, smaller, and taller women, it can be a struggle letting your light shine through when your mind is completely covered in negative body thoughts.
I can say it’s all in the mind! I know that you have heard that the mind is a battlefield, and on a battlefield you need weapons and ammunition to win the battle.
HERE ARE 3 POSITIVE BODY IMAGE PRAYERS/SCRIPTURES TO BRING US COMPLETE TOTALITY AND VICTORY, HEALING, AND WHOLENESS IN THE MIDST OF BODY IMAGE BATTLES
Summing it all up, friends, Id say youll do best by filling your minds and meditating on things true, noble, reputable, authentic, compelling, graciousthe best, not the worst; the beautiful, not the ugly; things to praise, not things to curse. Put into practice what you learned from me, what you heard and saw and realized. Do that, and God, who makes everything work together, will work you into his most excellent harmonies
Phillipians 4:8
Father, I pray that you allow me to keep my mind and my thoughts on whatsoever is true, noble, right, pure, lovely, and admirable concerning my body. Lord, remove my negative thoughts and my shame concerning my body and appearance. Lord, do not let me be distracted or concerned with comparing myself among my family, peers, or friends on social media. I know that I am beautiful because I was made in your likeliness and image.
The wise woman builds her house, But the foolish pulls it down with her hands
Proverbs 14:1-2
Father, I pray today that you renew my mind and renew my thoughts concerning my body, my looks, my worth, and my value. I pray that you will allow me to only think and say fruitful things concerning myself. Lord, I’m asking for your help to not tear myself down. For your Word says, that life and death lies in the power of the tongue. Today Lord, I’m declaring that I will only speak life to myself and not death. I’m speaking that my self esteem, body image, and self worth will begin to grow starting right now.
For you formed my inward parts; you knitted me together in my mother’s womb. I praise you, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made. Wonderful are your works; my soul knows it very well.
Psalm 139:13-14
Father, Help me to fully understand that I am made in your image and you called everything you created “good”. Let me truly believe this and praise and thank you for your wonderful work inside of me. Help me to see my body and myself as wonderful. Deliver me from self hatred and shame, help me to see myself as a good work. You have created me with divine purpose and value. Help me to truly embrace this freedom.
I hope that these prayers are encouragement to you. Please share any other scriptures that you find comfort in while battling body insecurities.

I’ve been struggling terribly for the last six months. 20 years of batling body image disorder and an eating disorder has been tough. In January my estrogen went through the roof, I gained 15 lbs in one week. I can’t get the last 8 to move and the mental struggle from my past is taking such a toll on me. Today I decided to Google scripture to help and found this. Exactly what I needed. Thank you so much.
