Sometimes I get a little anxious. It’s because I overthink things all the time and I overwhelm myself from thoughts. I know I got to do better! This week has been one of those weeks. I found myself just breaking down sobbing in my bed Saturday for no reason, I was tired, but not only that I’ve had several opportunities to relax, but resting is really hard for me (workaholic). I’m always thinking of something that I could be doing.
This week I decided to pull away from it all including my blog and social media (IG to be exact) and get a little breather in with bae. We took a stroll through the park to practice a little partner yoga. Let me be real, Yoga is not my thing but I decided to try something new to relieve stress and bond with my husband. This may be the strangest thing that he has ever done to please me. lol! I appreciated it though. Whenever I’m overwhelmed he knows exactly what to say, pray, and how to take charge even if it’s something he may not be interested in. If anyone would have told me that partner yoga strengthens relationships I probably would have looked at them crazy thinking, “Like How”, but let me tell you what I’ve learned during this yoga session with babe.
There are 4 major keys that I pulled out of every pose we accomplished together, it was really difficult being that this was both of our first time really doing yoga/partner yoga but we managed to get through it using these 4 things: communication, trust, encouragement, and teamwork.
Keep reading to find out how we used these essential elements to pull off each pose.
In order for us to reach the desired pose, we had to communicate. It’s pretty difficult to maintain a great relationship without sharing each other’s wants and needs.
I found myself having to trust him when I felt uncomfortable or didn’t feel secure. Many times I felt as if I was about to fall going into certain postures, and he understood my feelings but reassured me that i would be fine. Trust is a stepping stone in any relationship and if there is no trust, there is no foundation in a relationship.
Looking at some of the poses I was defeated before we attempted to make it happen, but with his encouragement we made it happen. You rely on each other’s encouragement for the very creation of every pose. Words of affirmation increases confidence and adds a boost to the relationship.
It takes teamwork, you can not accomplish anything that you need to do without working together. Together you can always achieve more!
Though I’m definitely a beginner at yoga I did feel the benefits of meditating outdoors, unplugging from social media, and engaging with my spouse.
I posted this picture on IG and many of you wanted to know details on my yoga look. This set is a part of the Beyond Yoga Justina Blakeney collection and it is available in plus size. I am wearing this set in an XXL. I added a high impact sports bra for extra support. This set is modern and comfortable with cooling qualities that kept me dry during my entire workout.
How do you find ways to engage with your bae? I would love to get fresh ideas, don’t hesitate to drop it in the comment box below.
