I know that we all have fitness goals, but that does not mean that we have to live in our gym clothes. We have important places to be and people to see and they are not here for our favorite workout leggings and the sweaty tank top. Contrary to popular belief, you do not have to put your personal style on the backburner while you focus on your fitness. Relax, you do not have to choose between two goals. You can do both, sis! You can be fashion-forward while losing weight and I’m here to tell you how.
The secret to how I stay fashionable while losing weight is all in identifying my body shape. I have a pear-shaped body. Which means that my hips are wider than my shoulders. I first gain weight in my tummy, hips, and legs. This does not mean that I live in sweatpants and moo-moos, though.
My waist is one of my best assets. I play up my waistline by wearing tops and dresses with a nipped or fitted waist. I love off the shoulder shirts or dresses with a wide neckline. This always draws attention to my neckline which is another asset of a pear-shaped body. My waistline and neckline are my best assets so I focus on bringing attention to these areas which flatter my silhouette.
Thanks so much to Lane Bryant for gifting me this dress. This dress is perfect for my body type. The dramatic sleeves add volume to my upper body, while the darted waist accentuates my natural waistline. I added velvet booties to complete my look.
I’m really working big on my fitness goals this year (to drop 30lbs of the baby weight that I never got rid of). I will not dump my entire wardrobe in the process. I may be cutting weight, but I’m not cutting fashionable pieces out of my wardrobe.
If you are clueless about your body type I added a tool below that can help guide you.
