Real Queens Fix Each Others Crown
In my younger years, I was uncomfortable when wearing bright colored pieces. I did not want to be the one who was shamed as Barney for wearing bright purple, Baby Bop for having the confidence to wear bright green or the Kool-Ade man for rocking bright red and orange. I was under the impression that bright colors made you look bigger and darker colors slimmed your body. So I played it safe with darker colored clothing.
Since the beginning of time, Plus size women have been shamed for wearing bright clothing. I’m ashamed to live in a society that only appreciates a plus size woman in dark clothing.
You can look amazing in bright colored garments as a plus size woman and if you are a woman who loves to flatter your body type, there are many choices in color that will work for you as well. I’m rocking pastels, bright colors, and white all Spring 18 and I’m collaborating with Southern-Belles: Bianca, Faith, Desiree, Ashlee, Belinda, Sherill, and Almetria to give you a little inspiration on styling your pastels for Spring.
I’m a country girl at heart so when Lane Bryant sent me this pretty, lace, off the shoulder, frock styled dress from their Fast Lane Collection, I was excited, Yall (in my Southern drawl). This dress is full of charm, hospitality, and feminine, exactly like Southern women. Check out all the similar styles, here.
Don’t be ashamed to rock your pastels this Spring. If you get ugly stares just smile, hold your head up, and keep strutting sis!
Check out how these Belles style their pastels,
