What about your friends, will they stand their ground, will they let you down again?
I’m an 80’s baby and TLC was like the Destiny’s Child of my younger years. I thought I was Tboz, but I wanted Chile baby hairs. (LOL)
It’s National BFF Day, but let me tell y’all how I felt about this picture first and we will get right there. Just keep reading. This photo had me frustrated. I loved everything about this photo until I saw the blur of movement in my dress. I thought to myself, this may be deemed as a bad photo and not Instagram worthy, but when I saw the natural sunlight in the photo it made me smile and instantly I knew that I was going to make this picture my headline pic.
Like any other blogger, I thought to myself what if it’s not good enough quality for IG and instantly I snapped out of it. I pondered and the phrase came to mind, “Beauty is in the eye of the beholder”. When will we stop going by society/social media standards of what’s good and bad? Who cares what others think! If I like it that’s all that matters, right!
I’ve really grown into a strong woman, and boy was it a journey to get there. The once timid, fearful, and rejected lady you see in this picture has learned how to speak her mind in seconds (that’s not always a good thing).
How did I get there? My tribe!
I am so blessed to have the friends I do, and though we change each other, I always become a better version of myself when I’m spending time with them.
As iron sharpens iron, so a man sharpens the countenance of his friends (Proverbs 27:17). Birds of a feather flock together! You will become like the friends you hang around. So if you have toxic or draining friendships, be sure to let those go today!
Your friends should build you up and encourage you to reach your goals. They should be happy about your achievements and they should hold you accountable. I’ve surrounded myself with friends who do that and even more. Bianca of Curvaceously Bee and Faith of Faithfully Yours are my blogging BFF’s that go above and beyond.
Today is National BFF Day and I’m celebrating with Dress Barn. I’m wearing the Chiffon Star Faux Wrap Dress and to add a patriotic spin on it for 4th of July inspiration I added cobalt blue mules from Asos (similar) and the beaded fringe drop earrings from Lane Bryant. The Chiffon Star Faux Wrap Dress is red with white stars all over it. It’s so cute and cool, especially for picnics, barbeques, family reunions, or day parties with the girls. I know you will love it.
Shoutout to my best friend since maybe 1st or 2nd grade. I’m too old to remember. She said that we met before school, but my memory shot! Hey Sheena!!
So how are you celebrating National BFF day!
Sheena Alexander says
