Nothing is more exciting than shooting content for my blog. Creating is my happy place. But you know so much has happened since we last talked and one of them include “Relocating”.
Yes, my sweet family has jumped over the Mississippi state line and made a sweet return back to Bama (Alabama that is). I’m elating being that Alabama is the state that I was born and married in. It’s home! However, that means that I’m back to shooting my fashion pictures with my iPhone. To save you the trouble, I took it upon myself to share with my sweathearts how I use my iPhone To shoot fashion photos.
The Iphone may not be the first choice for your fashion photos – after all, we’re used to seeing fashion bloggers talk about the importance of big cameras and expensive lighting. Don’t believe the hype! iPhone photography is a whole hashtag on IG. You will be amazed at these photos when looking for inspiration. Now let’s get into how I use my iPhone to shoot fashion photos.
How I Use My iPhone To Shoot Fashion Photos
First things first, we’ve got to keep this iPhone stable. Smartphones have highly capable cameras these days, but a shaky phone creates a blurry photo. The most convenient solution is to use a pop-up holder, tripod, or even selfie stick.
Hack: For the longest, I used books and a mini tripod for indoor shoots. Improvise! You have to be creative while being creative!
Next, Use AE/AF Lock! You can’t physically adjust the focus your iPhone lens. Auto focus is crucial! To prevent blurry images, tap on the face of your subject and make sure it’s sharp! However, auto focus doesn’t always get super crisp. Sometimes, it focuses on the wrong parts of the subject, and you end up with a blurry image. To prevent this from happening, tap on the face of your subject to make sure they’re sharp. You can also change the brightness when tapping the screen. Double tap, drag your finger up or down to control the amount of sun you want in the photo.
Use portrait mode!!! You can blur a background without a DSLR and that’s major! I use the portrait mode setting especially when I’m shooting around distracting elements.
Lastly, edit your photos. There are plenty of editing apps you can use for iPhone fashion photography. The most popular ones are VSCO and Adobe Photoshop Express. My favorite is VSCO! VSCO allows you to apply a preset (another word for filter) on your images and change the exposure, saturation, contrast, etc.
Style Notes: I took this look from Sunday Morning Worship to Date Night. I’m wearing the Satin Duster with Fringe Detail this came with the matching Drawstring Satin Pant.
This suit is so versatile. For morning worship, I styled this suit with an eyelash top from Shein. This look was flipped for date night with a lace body suit from It’s Fashion. A matching set gives me life! Eloquii went overboard with this one.
All of these photos were shot with my iPhone 11!
