You know that I love creating series for millennial pastors wives and women in ministry. There is not enough encouragement and support for millennial pastors wives. Since starting my blog, God has led me to address unpopular stigmas in the church such as “Loving God Has More Than One Look“, “3 Ways To Pray For Your Pastor’s Wife” and so many more.
Over the years, I’ve witnessed a lot. I’ve been in church all my life. For whatever reason, I have not been able to wrap my mind around how people associate Christianity with weakness. As a believer, I’ve had to learn that saying “Yes” to a person’s every want and need does not make you a good or nice person. So let’s shed some light on all of this so we can all be delivered together!
ME AS A “YES MAN”
As a young pastors wife, I believed that saying yes to everything made me extra holy. I was juggling being at every church service, answering every phone call, ask me anything without hesitation the answer was yes and I just knew that God was adding extras stars to my crown for it all. So obviously, one can conclude that I was being “too nice” and this often ends up leading to burnout. Yep, I was there! Just tired and burnt owt!
It was all because I was insecure and scared to say NO. It’s scary leading people, you try not to hurt feelings or step on toes. God does not say yes to everything we ask for. And if we’re being honest, can we agree that sometimes we try to go beyond God’s character (like that’s humanly possible). It’s time that we stop using our Christianity as a cop out to be “Yes Men”, doormats, and anything other than the royalty that we are in Christ. Saying No, confronting hard situations, and setting boundaries does not automatically deem you for Hell! On another note, we cannot leave every matter in God’s hands. Obviously, God has left some things here on Earth for us to handle and there is no way around that! Just saying, do you leave it in God’s hands to deliver the light bill payment every month. Of course not, you make it happen to get the bill paid. It’s the exact same way! It’s your responsibility to handle things too! God is not a genie!
God does not want “YES MEN”, he wants true leaders. This new season of my life is a very non-compulsive one.
