Hey Sweathearts, I did not forget about you. I promised to give you the scoop on my kid-friendly Spring Break location, so keeping reading for the tea.
My family has been on 2 separate road trips (over 6 hours traveling). We traveled 12 hours to Walt Disney in 2015 and this Spring Break we decided to travel 13 hours to “The Rock and Roll Capital of The World”, Cleveland, Ohio.
You might be surprised that our adventures included snow blizzards and cold temps, but for a busy mom, with cabin fever, this was the perfect refresher.
The first thing that comes to mind when I think of Cleveland, Ohio is….
I know I’m not the only one!!
I love to go non-stop while on vacation, but I must remember that I’m traveling with a party of 4. Sleep is important to hubby, shopping is important to me, music is important to Tristan, and toys are important to Tylan. It’s very important to have balance and find something that everyone will appreciate and enjoy.
My pre-teen is a music lover. He is the church musician and he plays the tuba in the middle school concert band. So you know he did not mind at all spending the evening exploring The Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame And Museum, right on the Lake Erie shore. With its pyramid shape, we walked into such a beautiful place, but it’s so much better to start from the bottom and work your way up. If not you will have a toddler infatuated with riding up and down the escalators (Tylan). The music exhibits allowed us to see face to face our favorite singers’ costume and memorabilia. The highlight of our visit was seeing Micheal Jackson’s glove, shoes, and Grammy from his 1984 Grammy Performance. With a toddler bugging me for toys, I rapped the first rap song ever “Rappers Delight” to my big boy as we walked into the Run DMC themed hallway. I had on my Adidas, too (magical moment)! It was so cool, but next time Tylan is staying. This is not the perfect place for toddlers, just giving you a heads up.
My toddler is a nerd. He loves books, toys, gadgets, and learning. He’s four and a mathematical genius. Thanks to his teachers Mrs. Sherry, Mrs. Nancy, and Mrs. Cookie… oh I can’t leave Mr. Joey out. So for my little Einstein we toured The Great Lakes Science Center. Can you believe it’s right beside The Rock and Roll Hall Of Fame, on Lake Erie shore so the transition with a toddler was quick and easy? The Center is filled with hands-on learning, legos, and running…. after my son that is. The highlight of our visit here was the Lego Exhibit. Lego sculptures that you can explore and build. We stepped inside the Dome Theatre, an enjoyed The Amazon Adventure in 3D. The Great Lakes Science Center is a place for children of all ages. Not to mention my boys did not play with a mobile device the entire time, GOALS!! That’s a big deal!
After all of the touring, we were ready for some good and healthy eats. So we decided to dine in at the Melted Bar & Grilled, a locally owned and operated restaurant fit for every lifestyle (vegan, plant-based, gluten-free options). The atmosphere was so artistic and welcoming. The staff was knowledgeable and their suggestions were right on point! Them fried pickles tho!! I was sold when the waitress mentioned low-carb options. You guys know that I stick to a low carb lifestyle most of the time, but it was so wonderful not being pressured to eat crazy while on vacation. I ordered the house favorite, the Cleveland Philly. Every month Melted Bar & Grilled have a food feature and I tried this month’s feature the sweet chili-garlic broccoli. Everything was so amazing!
We smashing! This was a Spring Break to remember! Thanks so much Cleveland!!
