MY TCF OUTFIT (DAY 2) : Bold, Plus, And In Ankara

When I was a young girl, black was known as a slimming color. As a plus size woman, I embraced this color because I never wanted to look bigger. Thankfully, that is not my mindset any longer. Put me in the brightest and boldest colors and I bet these curves will make a statement. Especially, in a plus size African dress.

Are you in the sunken place when it comes to wearing bold prints on your curves? I’m pulling you out today! Black is slimming, chic, and I love it but it’s time to brighten up that silhouette with culture, history, and Ankara.

Ankara prints are all over. It’s bold and on trend! Ankara is known as a vibrant wax African print fabric. Inspired by tradition, color, culture, and “Mother Africa” this print is everything. And thanks to one of my favorite African designers, plus size women can now slay in Ankara.

This dress is the “Ndona Short Sleeve Dress” from Maria Paulina. Fit and flare is the perfect silhouette for most pear and apple shaped curvies.

Quick Confession: I have been hiding my legs due to swelling from that ugly hamstring injury. This dress put my legs on blast stopping right above the knee. I got to show off how my new circuit barre workouts are working out for my legs.
