Back in the day, I remember thinking that loving God had only one look. Like girl, you will never make it in the Lamb’s book of life if you do not ditch your love for fashion, color, and creativity. For the longest, this girl believed that you could not be fashionable and represent God. It was like oil and water, the two do not mix.
Black Culture And Fashion
Growing up black, fashion was embedded in our lifestyle. My family style shaped me and so did black culture. It is expected in the black church that you present your best appearance in worship. That spilled over into my rituals and became very important to me. But growing up things changed and suddenly, fashion, make-up, and jewelry was considered worldly.
God is a designer! He designed the world, for instance. No two fingerprints are alike. If God was MAC cosmetics there would be only one Ruby Woo and then he would move on to make another red lippie just as powerful as that one but different! God is not into duplicating and that’s so dope!
This is just a reminder that you can be dope and love God. You can be dope and do great things for God. In other words, your faith can be laced with style. You may be the only one who understands what you love but please believe that you are unique for a reason.
Style Notes
Quality comes with a big price is a myth these days? Today, I’m wearing a new name in plus size fashion. One that has shattered the tale that quality comes with a heavy price tag?
I was too excited when Soncy reached out to me about being an ambassador! To represent a millennial brand that has my mind discombobulated when it comes to picking pieces on the site was overwhelming. I mean everything is so cute. This month I picked up this jumpsuit and teddy coat from Soncy! Giving you female Money Mike vibes!
Remember to stay authentic and true to yourself!
