It’s no secret that I have a fupa! I honestly try my best to conceal it, but often times it wants to come out in pictures. I’m redefining the things I once hated about myself and there was a time I would have deleted these pictures. Today, I’m glad to say I love them! Fupa out and all!
There is absolutely nothing wrong with playing down areas of your body that you are uncomfortable with. But, sometimes it may just peak out (like in this shoot) and you have to be comfortable with it, love it, or crawl back in a shell and hate it. Back in the day, these pictures would have never made it to the internet. This blog post is a celebration of how far I have come in my self-love journey.
Some of you may be unfamiliar with the word “FUPA”, like what is this girl talking about ??
Fupa is defined as the fat right below the tummy. FUPA is the acronym for Fat Upper Pelvic Area. It’s called the fat pouch, and so many other things via Urban Dictionary.
In the picture below, I was learning to embrace my natural shape which is a Pear-Apple, this is somewhere between a pear and an apple shape. I have curves, my waist is smaller than my hips, but I tend to carry a little weight in my tummy area and fupa.
I always wanted to hide my tummy in photos and every outfit, pose, and picture was to conceal it.
We must take pride in every part of our body and before the saints go in on “PRIDE”. I’m clearly talking about loving the whole package. Not just the parts that you feel are the prettiest. Dress to look polished in your clothing, but if your fupa shows it’s not the end of the world. Keep the photo, share the photo without photoshopping the mess out of it.
It’s just a reminder of how far I’ve come in this self-love journey!
Are you learning to love the parts of your body that the world hold to be ugly, imperfect, or fat? Your body is beautiful! You heard it from me, first!
